School Begins!

We have survived, with great excitement, the first two days of school!

Uncle Oliver gave the girls their back to school blessings. I love how mindful of us Heavenly Father is and how well he knows us.

Aleynah is an ecstatic fifth grader. She has Mrs. Phillips as a teacher who has helped her feel very comfortable in class. She also has her best friend, Spirit, in class with her. In fact, Aleynah is SO comfortable in class on the first day that she stood in front of the class, on her own, and told them that she is allergic to the bacteria on her skin and that is why she sometimes has spots on her body. WOW, she is really growing up!

Meikah was so excited to start middle school that she hardly slept the night before. She was up at 5:15am and ready to get to school. She has several good friends in most of her classes and today she figured out that she has time after one class to go to her locker, put away her books, get a drink of water, and get to her next class before the bell rings! Go Meikah!

Kendrah is blending into being a freshman. She has already decided she likes the rebellious teacher, has NO time to talk between classes, and is not sure which nerds she should talk to. She is taking Sports Medicine and Visual-Communications as her electives. She will do great in both. Tomorrow (Friday) is spirit day and the CHS vs. OHS football game and Kendrah is currently mapping out her outfit to be the spirit queen!

I have enjoyed a few days home while the girls are in school. I have canned plums, pears, and a variety of jams, cleaned the food closet and done some yard work. This next week I have to put some time into my school preparation. I am taking a class on India this quarter. I am continuing to walk at least once a day. I am up about 5:15 or 5:30am and Star (the dog) and I take our 1.5 mile walk. I have been really diligent about taking my walks and I am feeling really good. Overall I have lost 21 pounds, just by walking. That is 84 sticks of butter! Imagine that.
